I came across this little community general store yesterday in Darwin, Virginia which is in the heart of Appalachia coal country. At one time, each community had a store pretty much like this one. Now, they are few and far between.

Deloris Stacy - This picture reminds me so very much of Johnson's Store which used to be in West Carter's Valley, about five miles from Church Hill. There was another smaller store that everyone called "Granny Taylor's Store" which I can still remember to this day with all her glass gallon jars full of penny candy. Wonderful memories!
