Powell Mountain view in the snow

I passed by this spot as I often do on the way to Norton, Virginia today. The sun was out and the view was just spectacular. There was about 7 inches of snow on the ground at the time. This was in Wise County, Virginia in the southwestern part of the state.

I passed by this spot as I often do on the way to Norton, Virginia today. The sun was out and the view was just spectacular. There was about 7 inches of snow on the ground at the time and I could see by the tracks that many others had taken avantage of the spot before me. The spot is a popular wayside on US 23 in Southwestern Virginia.

March 9, 2009 - 9:16 am Bill Robinson - Gary is right. You do have a get up early and brave a very cold morning to do this stuff. You have an adventurous spirit. I know, I've been on a canoe trip with you. BILL

February 7, 2009 - 7:26 am Gary Fields - Earl, Very nice. Your photos make me homesick for Kingsport and the area. Your special gift for seeing the special view and lighting hasn't diminished over time, I am impressed that you are willing to get up early and face some cold winds to use your gift. You suffer the cold and we get to enjoy the view. That's a good deal for me. Thank you for sharing your views of the world.
